Haley and Stephen are both from Jamaica, Vermont - they grew up just down the road from each other! Stephen's mom was Haley's 4th grade teacher, and she would often go to Stephen's house to ride horses with her in elementary school. Haley's dad taught Stephen in the Vermont hunter safety course. Even after all these connections, they had scarce interactions in elementary and middle school.

When they were both 16, they happened to be placed in the same Euclidean Geometry class. One day Haley was looking around the classroom and happened to notice an empty seat next to Stephen and thought - that kid is smart! She swapped seats and asked for his help on a few problems. Later that night, she asked him if he wanted to hang out. The rest is history.

They spent the next few years together, and when Stephen left for college at the University of Vermont they made their long distance relationship work. After the first year, they travelled back and forth between schools every weekend (cat included) in order to see each other. After college, they moved into their first apartment together, and adopted their first puppy - Sadie May.

After 9 years, on a rainy September day (Haley's birthday, to be exact!) Stephen proposed in the middle of the living room, while she was sitting on the couch. Needless to say, she said yes.

We can't wait to celebrate our love with the people we love the most!
